I finally found a book club! I have been searching for a book club in Dallas for the past couple weeks. I found a few that I thought sounded really great like the club that was devoted to wine and books. They meet at different wine bars each month and discuss a different book. Sounds perfect, right? Well, it turns out the books were kind of a snooze. In all actuality, I’m sure they are fantastic books, but I am kind of more into the books on the Best Sellers List or books that are being made into movies and yes, even quick chick lit. Every now and then I’ll pick up a biography or memoir. So I finally stumbled upon Food For Thought - the book they just finished happens to be the book I just finished as well, My Sister’s Keeper! Oh, and they read the entire Twilight series! How perfect! Most of the women are in North Dallas, but that’s ok…I’m willing to drive a little further to meet some new people that enjoy the same type of books I do! The next book up is Time Traveler’s Wife. The move comes out next month, and our meetup will be at Studio Movie Grill to watch the movie and discuss them both afterward over drinks! Yay! I’m excited!
I had drinks and dinner with my good friend Karey on Monday night. It was so good to catch up with her! She’s one of those friends that you know you will always be in touch with - she always has a great outlook, gives great advice, never judges and is always good fun! She’s truly a great friend.
Anyway, she started making these adorable frames in her free time. How cute are they?! She’s selling them on Etsy. Click the picture to see more of her frames! They’d make great gifts!
What do you think? Well, I love it! It plays on the name of the 80-year-old Lane family business, Lane Plating Works. I think Lane Baking Works ties to my roots and gives it a strong, classic name. My great grandfather was an amazingly successful entrepreneur, creating a lasting business through three and hopefully four generations and becoming a true innovator in the industry. Maybe I have a little entrepreneurism in me too? We’ll see how it goes! I purchased the URL for lanebakingworks.com and now I need to fill out some form with the Dallas SBDC. Yay!
Help! I need a name for my sweet treats business! I’m going to start selling my rice krispie treats at Bent Tree Country Club - but I need to figure out the perfect name, and adorable packaging! Any ideas??
“ A friend will know by the sound of your voice, by the look on your face, by the way you walk, by the things you do, exactly what kind of day you’re having. ”
I made Peanut Butter Fudge Treats for the office today. They’re rice krispie treats topped with a peanut butter and chocolate fudge (quite possible the best combination ever discovered!). Delicious and decadunt! I think they’re a big hit! The recipe is from Joy the Baker, and they’re actually pretty easy to make!
“ Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. ”
- C.S. Lewis
From Leslie’s Happy Monday note this morning! Could not have come at a better time! I don’t know what I would do without a friend like Leslie - her friendship definitely gives great value to survival!
Well hello! I'm Ashley....if you're my friend, you know me as A.Lane or just Ash.
If people had to describe me, I think they would say one word....happy. I believe it's so much easier to go through life with a smile on your face than a frown. Being mad or upset or depressed honestly takes way too much work! I always try to look on the bright side of things and surround myself with good people.
My life is about spending time with good friends and family and enjoying lots of laughs! I'm laid back and easy going and always up for fun times. My only vice is probably that I'm a shopaholic!
